Becoming a Purdue Global student is something to get excited about, and reviewing the steps below will ensure you have everything you need to start on the path to your degree.

Step 1: Get in Touch With an Admissions Advisor

The first step in applying for admission to Purdue Global is to reach out to an Admissions Advisor through one of the following ways:

Step 2: Interview

The next step in the admissions process is to complete an interview. The interview with your Admissions Advisor is an important opportunity to ask questions, define your educational and professional goals, and explore whether a Purdue Global degree can help.

To prepare for your interview:

  • Identify your goals/objectives and how a degree may help you achieve them.
  • Note any questions or concerns.
  • Determine when you would like to start the program.
  • Be prepared to provide an unofficial transcript. This is required for many of our programs and you may need this for the interview. Your Admissions Advisor can also help you with a transfer credit evaluation so you can see how your prior credits apply.
  • Some graduate students will need to provide a resume prior to the interview.
  • Nursing students may need to provide a copy of their RN license prior to the interview, depending on their program of interest.

Step 3: Enrollment

You're almost there. There are only a few steps remaining to complete the admissions process. Are you excited? If you have any unanswered questions, please speak with your Admissions Advisor. We are here to help make sure that you have everything you need to make a well-informed decision.

  • When you are ready, review and sign your Enrollment Agreement.
  • Complete the electronic Identity and Document verification process by providing a copy of a valid, government-issued identification (e.g., driver’s license, U.S./non-U.S. passport, tribal ID). The name in your student record must match your legal first and last name from your ID.
  • If you are applying for financial aid, sign your FAFSA with your PIN (make sure you use the correct school code of 004586).
  • Sign your Master Promissory Note, which is provided by the Financial Aid Office.
  • Set up a registration call with your Admissions Advisor.

Acceptance to the University

Upon completion of all admissions requirements, the University administration will review the information and inform applicants in writing whether they have been accepted for enrollment. If an applicant is not accepted, he or she will not owe any financial obligation to the University.

Students and potential students who wish to request accommodations must complete and submit the required accommodation request forms. Once accommodations are approved, they are in place for all classes every term. There is no need to request accommodations again unless you should leave the university, re-enroll, or your circumstances have changed. To learn more, please visit Student Accessibility Services.

Admissions Requirements

  • General Admissions Requirements

    You must complete an Enrollment Agreement and all required documents and submit monies as outlined on the Tuition and Fees Schedule. The Enrollment Agreement must be signed by a parent or legal guardian if you are younger than 18 years of age.

    • All courses are taught in English. You must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently. English abilities will be determined through the University's interview, application process, and placement exam.
    • You must complete financial arrangements prior to starting class. If applicable, financial aid applications must be completed.
  • Program and State Admissions Requirements
    • All applicants must complete any programmatic admissions requirements, if applicable. Contact an Admissions Advisor for specific requirements.
    • For nursing programs, documentation of any required health examinations, tests, and immunizations must be presented prior to registering for clinical courses or an externship experience. Health science programs may require health examinations, including pathology tests and immunization records, to be administered no earlier than 12 months prior to the end date of the externship. Documentation must be submitted prior to registering for clinical courses or an externship. Nursing and health science programs may require additional documentation as necessary to comply with specific federal and/or state requirements for student nurse candidates and health science profession candidates. Contact an Admissions Advisor for information on the specific documentation required for the program of your choice, as well as timeframes for submitting this documentation.
    • The state and various other agencies may require criminal background checks before you can be placed in an externship or take professional licensing, certification, or registration exams. If you have prior felony convictions, you may be denied the opportunity to take professional licensing, certification, or registration exams, or may be denied a license or certification to practice in some states even if the exam is taken and successfully completed.
    • You are responsible for inquiring about current state requirements for your desired career path prior to enrolling in the program of your choice.
  • International Admissions Requirements
    • Purdue Global is authorized under federal law to enroll nonimmigrant, alien students. International students who wish to be admitted to any Purdue Global for-credit program must be 18 years or older, and must complete admissions requirements and provide evidence of adequate financial resources. To ensure that international students are prepared to complete college-level coursework, they must demonstrate a command of oral and written English skills. 
    • Transcripts from foreign institutions must meet the same requirements as domestic institutions and must be translated and evaluated by an approved foreign credential evaluator prior to enrollment. The University does not guarantee the transferability of credits from other educational institutions.

  • Additional Graduate Student Admissions Requirements

    A bachelor’s degree is required to enroll in a master’s degree or graduate certificate program, and a master’s degree is required to enroll in a doctoral or postgraduate certificate program. Refer to your program’s policies in the Purdue Global Catalog for any additional prior degree requirements.

    You will need to provide an official transcript that shows completion of the required degree from an accredited institution, though an unofficial copy may be provided during the application process.

  • Additional Undergraduate Student Admissions Requirements
    • To apply to Purdue Global’s undergraduate programs, you must meet one of the following standards:
      • Are a high school graduate
      • Possess a General Education Development (GED) certificate or state-specific equivalency diploma
      • Possess a home study certificate or transcript from a home study program that is equivalent to high school level and recognized by your home state, and be beyond the age of compulsory attendance in that state
      • Are a high school senior eligible to apply and submit proof of high school graduation
    • Evidence of high school graduation or equivalent must be presented to the University. Acceptable evidence includes a certified copy of an original high school diploma, a copy of a high school transcript indicating the date of high school graduation, a GED certificate or official notification that a GED has been earned, or a college transcript indicating the date of graduation from an approved high school. Online students must attest to high school graduation or equivalent. Acceptable attestation may be the proof of graduation attestation included on the Enrollment Agreement, the FAFSA, or any other document deemed acceptable by the University.
    • Prior to starting an academic program, you may be required to take an entrance examination. If you fail to meet the minimum score, you may not be admitted to the University or may be required to take foundational coursework. Contact an Admissions Advisor for details on which programs require the test and what constitutes a passing score.
