Purdue Global developed the online Doctor of Education (EdD) in Leadership and Innovation program to meet the ever-growing education, training, and leadership demands of the traditional and non-traditional settings of today’s workforce.

It melds two critical components of any profession — leadership and innovation. Students are prepared to emerge as leaders or to affirm their current leadership position with practical approaches to managing people and services. They also study innovation, which makes successful people stand out from those in pursuit of such ideals.

Purdue Global helps foster the avant-garde spirit in our students. The hallmark of the program, the applied research project, allows students to utilize their workplace setting to complete the required research component. The applied research project differs from a traditional dissertation in that it focuses on research that the learner can immediately apply in the workplace, further igniting the spark of leadership and innovation.

How Does the Program Work?

As an asynchronous program with virtual live seminar options, the Purdue Global Doctor of Education in Leadership and Innovation program offers flexibility, allowing students to work at a steady and tempered pace within the framework of the course requirements. A master’s degree is required and automatically counts for a maximum of 30 transfer credits. This decreases the EdD to 60 credits total and shortens the completion time to less than 2 years if the student stays on track.

During their time with Purdue Global, students will complete meaningful coursework and navigate a rigorous applied research project. Our experienced and dedicated faculty engage with learners at the highest level. They combine real-world expertise with impactful coursework to create an authentic learning environment. Our faculty consultants hold webinars that help students plan the initial steps of the applied research project and ensure that they’re off to the right start.

What Can You Do With This Degree?

This online doctorate in education offers students the skills for leadership roles in education-related settings within corporations, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and higher education and K-12 environments. Some of the growing professions within the field include training and development specialists as well as instructional coordinators. Postsecondary administrator positions are growing as well.

Purdue Global graduates are prepared to lead organizations, manage people, and develop services that enrich the lives of others. With the online Doctor of Education in Leadership and Innovation degree, students will emerge as leading-edge innovators within their chosen field with confidence.
