Information technology is used as an umbrella term for the study of computer systems, software, and networks. This field encompasses many different career paths, including cybersecurity, software development, and data analytics. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, overall employment in computer and information technology occupations is projected to grow much faster than the average for all occupations from 2022 to 2032.
If you’re interested in pursuing a degree in information technology, you may want to look into IT scholarships for students. The Education Data Initiative estimates that private organizations award over $7.4 billion in information technology scholarships each year.
